Our client is a leading global contract research organization (CRO) supporting pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies by accelerating drug discovery and development, from early research models through preclinical/clinical support, safety testing, and manufacturing, helping bring new therapies to market faster with services spanning discovery, safety assessment, and manufacturing, with a focus on areas like cell and gene therapy.


Situation
Our client’s capital and expenditure (CAPEX) requests require auditable and traceable documentation of expected capital outlays, project metrics, and authorizations in a highly regulated biopharma environment.
A submitted CAPEX request needs to be routed for approval by senior and C-suite executives based upon pre-defined rules. After a CAPEX project is approved, the process to translate project details into SAP ECC Project Systems is challenging and cumbersome.
Solution
truData implemented SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) to provide a custom low-code/no-code application development platform for custom UI5 data entry forms. SAP’s Document Management service holds and retrieves project documentation, while an SAP HANA Cloud database underpins the application and stores structured request details. truData engineers built reporting and dashboards in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and leveraged SAP’s Cloud Connector to pass approved requests into ECC and generate Project Systems Projects.
